Marc Ferraro

Marc Ferraro (1965, NL)

In an era dominated by speed and digital perfection, Marc deliberately works analog. He draws inspiration from people, landscapes, flowers, and plants. By working with traditional photographic techniques, he seeks to create new images—sometimes conventional, sometimes offering a completely personal interpretation of reality.

Through experimenting with special and often vintage films, such as Kodalith—originally developed for graphic black-and-white images without gray tones—combined with the slow printing process in his darkroom, unexpected and surprising results emerge. The material and the creative process play an equally important role as the subject itself.

His interest in flowers began in his vegetable garden, where he found his ‘photographic models.’ By removing them from their natural environment and isolating them in the studio, he gives them a distinct identity. In his images, Marc reveals the beauty and complexity of nature.
