J.D.Hali

J.D. Hali is the pseudonym of commercial photographer Jeroen Dietz. When photography became his livelihood 36 years ago, something was lost—something that had taken shape during five years at the Rietveld Academy and for which there was no room for many years.

Over the past six years, this has returned, and I have very slowly begun creating new work. I consciously produce this autonomous work under a different name to avoid confusion with commercial assignments. This makes things clearer for my clients, and certainly for myself.

These photographs are the result of years of honing my perception of the everyday world around us—a way of seeing that is slightly asymmetrical or visually atonal.
