Frank Ruiter
Frank Ruiter, Groningen, 1978. He is known for his penetrating portraits, made using natural light, for clients such as de Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad, Het Parool, and the Royal Household.
For more than twenty years, he has worked from his studio in the Jordaan, where he photographs exclusively in the small kitchen, a space where natural light falls beautifully.
In addition, he photographs in a wide variety of locations: in people’s homes, on the street, in offices, gardens, factory halls, back rooms, and boardrooms. Each place demands something different, but he always works with the available light.
With abundant—and at times hard-to-contain—energy, he creates a sense of calm. Commissioned work and autonomous practice flow seamlessly into one another.
